Camping without Bears!

In the U.K we’re fortunate enough not to have any killer predators. The worst thing we may have to worry about is that the neighbours on our campsite have got their pooch on a dog tether.

Here’s an interesting video showing how bears might react when stumbling upon a tent.

This was filmed in Alaska Wildlife Conservation Centre and didn’t feature ‘wild’ free roaming bears. No Bears were harmed during the filming of this clip. Afraid we can’t say the same for the mannequin!

As the guys in the video helpfully point out, If you find yourself in a situation where you’re getting dragged off by a bear whilst still in your tent, don’t scream or shout as you’ll just make them more angry……..good luck with that! We’d suggest if you live to tell the tale you’ll at least need some new camping gear, starting with a new tent, and perhaps a fresh pair of trousers 😉

Does anyone have any interesting wild animal encounters or close calls to share with us at all? Have you accidentally pitched your lovely new bright red tent in a field full of bulls? (not quite sure how that could happen….) Did you realise you’d overstayed your welcome at the campsite when birds started nesting in your awning?
