There are flooring alternatives for all budgets from basic groundsheets to luxury heated carpets. To help you understand the difference between them, our guide will run through each of them to aid your decision.
Groundsheet and flooring options
Electric heated carpet - For many campers, carpets are no longer an option but a camping essential that brings practical luxury to the campsite. Now even more luxurious as Outwell have designed electrical heated carpets in two different sizes. Neatly quilted on top and with anti-slip dots on the bottom, the carpet simply plugs into the tent electrics so campers can enjoy a warm, cosy feel underfoot when the temperature drops.

Easy lock floor tiles - Multi-purpose flooring tiles that lock together to provide a practical surface that can be utilised both inside and out.These strong closed-cell EVA tiles offer a warm, cushioned, non-slip surface. They link together to give any combination of design or area, and can be laid on soft or hard surfaces. The material is exceptionally hardwearing, rot-proof and UV stabilised, with holes to allow grass to continue growing. Each tile is approximately 50cm x 50cm (52cm x 52cm with connecting teeth), and Kampa Easy Lock Edge Tiles are available on our website which help to provide a gentle ramp to the sides. Fleece carpet - The comfortable living room carpet is made from a soft flannel to provide your tent with the ultimate cosy feeling making you feel completely at home.The carpet adds insulation in your living room from the cold ground and makes your tent even more comfortable.The carpet comes with a heavy PVC backing for easy cleaning and to keep the damp out. Most fleece carpets come with a handy carry bag to make transporting your carpet alot easier.
Footprint - The benefit of a footprint not only offers even more insulation but also protects the groundsheet from wear and tear while keeping it clean when it gets muddy underfoot. Extremely cost effective, a basic footprint can be picked up from any decent camping store at the £15.00 mark.
Cushioned carpet - The Cushioned Carpet range from Kampa is extremely comfortable underfoot, breathable, reversible and easy to wash. Cushioned carpets add a luxury feeling to any tent/awning and they're ideal for use in caravan awnings, tents, gazebos, marquees, patios and conservatories. Slightly more expensive than a standard camping carpet but for people wanting that luxury soft floor feel then it is definatly worth it.

Standard carpet - A carpet in either your tent or awning will add warmth and insulation. Keeping the damp out and giving your tent/awning more of homely feel. Entry level carpets are reasonably affordable and available in many sizes and styles.
